Flame Resistance
There is a popular misconception that flame retardant fabrics shouldn’t burn. Treated fabrics will still burn, however they slow down the flame speed. Flame retardants are designed to reduce ignitability, spread of flame, heat evolved, and the amount of smoke developed from a fabric when it is exposed to a fire hazard. Flame retarding is designed to affect many factors including the amount of smoke & toxic gas produced. These factors are measured by the Australian Standards procedure.
Alfresco fabric range is treated with Guard Flame, a flame retardant, mould, and mildew coating for textiles. This treatment ‘binds’ to the fabric’s fibres and is designed to be suitable for Outdoor drapery use. Alfresco can be washed and or dry-cleaned up to a maximum of five times in accordance with AS2001.5.4 Procedure 7A of the Building Code of Australia without adversely affecting the fabrics performance.
All fabrics treated with Alfresco Guard Flame have been issued with a Certificate of Compliance (Australian Standard AS1530 parts 2 and 3) as required by the Building Code of Australia. Alfresco drapery fabric has been tested to pass the required standards in Australia and overseas.
Guard Flame is non-toxic and non-allergenic.
